Advice for Parents
For your child’s comfort and well-being, please bear the following advice in mind:
- Make sure your child is properly equipped with warm clothing suited to the weather conditions, including a ski jacket, mittens, sunglasses or ski goggles, sun cream and tissues.
- Your child should arrive at their lesson with the appropriate equipment: skis, ski boots and poles (from 1ère Étoile level onwards), all suited to their height, weight and ability. Ask a ski shop for advice if necessary.
- Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended, both for safety and to encourage good habits from an early age.
- A back protector is strongly recommended for Team Rider lessons.
- Don’t forget to put a small snack in your child’s pocket!
- Please let us know about any health issues your child may have.
- Please avoid following or calling out to your child during their lesson, as this may distract them.
- Please leave any decisions about changing groups to our instructors.
- Remember, your child is on holiday: the aim is for them to have fun and want to come back. Let them progress at their own pace and don’t put pressure on them to become a champion too soon!
To help lessons run smoothly, please take note of the following information:
- Please arrive early at the meeting point shown on your lesson card.
- You must bring your lesson card to every session, including private lessons.
- The ski pass is not included in the lesson price and is compulsory. Please make sure you have one before lessons begin.
- esf does not provide insurance for participants. To protect yourself against the financial consequences of an accident, we recommend taking out SAM ski insurance when purchasing your ski pass.
- esf cannot accept liability for damage to property or personal injury that may occur during lessons.
Instructors cannot be held responsible for weather conditions, ski lift breakdowns or other unforeseen incidents. - The actual duration of lessons may be reduced due to circumstances beyond our control. No refunds will be issued (please see our Terms and Conditions).
Ski lifts
Choosing My Ski Pass
- Ski passes are free for children under 6, upon presentation of proof of age at the ski lift ticket office.
- A ski pass is required to use the ski lifts, including for young children.
- From Beginner to 2ème Étoile preparation level, you can purchase a 6-day SkiPass at a preferential rate when booking 6 consecutive ESF lessons. This pass is valid throughout the entire Serre Chevalier ski area for 6 full days. It is not a beginner ski pass.
- Beginners in skiing and snowboarding can also take advantage of our Lesson + Ski Pass packages.

How can I take out ski insurance?
An accident on the slopes can be expensive. Mountain rescue services are not free of charge, and the costs are payable by the injured person.
Available from the ski lift ticket offices, SAM insurance provides the insurance and assistance cover you need to enjoy snow sports with greater peace of mind.
Please note: This insurance provides direct cover for search and rescue costs, as well as medical repatriation. If your stay is cut short due to an accident, illness requiring hospitalisation or an early return home, the insurance will reimburse the unused portion of your ski lift pass or Nordic ski pass and ski lessons, calculated on a pro-rata basis.
Your policy is a group insurance policy with optional individual membership, taken out by:
